St. Marks 2008 Waterpolo trip to Romania.

On this day we drove to Sighisoara. On the way we passed through numerous Saxon villages scattered on the banks of river Olt. Sighisoara is the birth place of Prince Vlad “Tepes” Draculea (Vlad the Impaler) known as Dracula. He was born in 1431, in a three – storey house, at “Piata Muzeului” number 6. Also in Sighisoara, in 1894, Hermann Oberth (one of the founding fathers of rocketry and astronautics) was born. Sighisoara is one of the best preserved medieval towns, and on the UNESCO World Heritage List. We checked in at the “Casa cu Cerb” hotel. This is a small hotel built in 1693 in the main plaza. There are only 10 rooms, and we have 5 of them. Prince Charles stays here when visiting Sighisoara. The owner of the hotel cleaned our clothes for free and spent a lot of time with us. We had a good time. We visited the town, and had lunch in Vlad Dracula birthplace house.
